Stand up, brush yourself off and get going again

I wrote some time back recommending my wife as a speaker as your next Ladies' event. St. Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarksville, TN www.fbcsb.com recently had her speak at their ladies retreat, assigning the title, "Stand up, brush yourself off, and get going again."

There is a link to the audio below. I think you will find this presentation deeply moving and hands-on practical. If you choose to listen, here is a heads up: grab a box of Kleenex. I cried listening to the audio and I am a guy!

Here are some of the comments she received from that conference:

  • Missy was wonderful and I appreciate her sharing her story.
  • Missy has touched my heart and shown me that it is still possible to forgive.
  •  I appreciated Missy's honesty and her sharing scripture that helped her get through her pain.
  •  Missy should write a book. I'd buy it.
  •  You were great, Missy! The Lord has blessed you in a mighty way.
  •  Missy displayed courage and strength. She showed strength to be a good Christian woman in hard times and she had the courage to share her story.
  •  Missy really spoke to me when she said that God can still use you even after you've messed up. It's amazing how God is using you, your ex-husband, his new wife, and your husband in this way. Keep on going, Missy. We need REAL people like you in church.
  •  I liked how Missy told us that we need to be grounded in he Word and be ready for the "storm".
  •  I thought it was most helpful that Missy told us we need to be clothed in Jesus.
  •  Missy's talk was very heartfelt. I liked how personal it was.
  •  I liked that Missy pointed out that God is God and He can do whatever He wants in our lives.
  • I liked how Missy reminded us that God is in control, not us, and when he allows hard situations into our lives He is able to turn them situation around-we just have to know it's not about us-it's about HIM.
  •  What I took away from this conference is that forgiveness can set you free.
  •  I was reminded that no matter what we go through, God should be praised.
  •  I saw two main things as a result of Missy's talk: 1) A beautiful example of forgiveness and 2)We should always give God the glory.
  •  Forgiveness was the most relevant topic for me and God is God and I can't fix things myself.
