Perhaps you have seen the movie Schindler’s List. After the war is over, Oskar Schindler is on-screen preparing to leave in his car. For a brief moment he stops to talk to a Jewish foreman at the plant. The foreman wants somehow to thank Schindler for all that he did during the war.
Foreman: One who saves one life saves the world in time.
Oskar: I could have got more. I could have got more. I made more money, threw away so much money, didn’t do enough. Why did I buy this car? Ten more people (sobs), and this gold pin, two more people, at least one more person, one more person who is dead. I didn’t—I didn’t…
Beloved, what are you investing in? Where are you going? What do you intend to do with your life? Jude is walking among us today, and he is calling us to the honorable work of contending.
