I have been reading the New Testament from the Greek to English Interlinear for the last year. This is the Greek text with an English equivalent under each word. Here is a verse that God my attention this morning:

The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. — The New International Version. 2011 (Mt 8:8). Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan.

In the Interlinear it looked like this: “I am not enough.”

That is the picture of the human condition, isn’t it? This feeling that, “I am not enough.”

  • I am not smart enough
  • I am not thin enough
  • I am not rich enough
  • I am not beautiful enough
  • I am not strong enough
  • I did not get picked soon enough
  • I can’t play well enough

I don’t know about you, but it is a common feeling in my heart that, “I am not enough.”
