The Bible says, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)

Don’t miss the opening line, “we all.” The phrase is quite explicit in the Greek, and for good reason. In the Old Testament, only priests could come into the presence of God. Actually, it is true today: only priests can come into the presence of God.

Here is the big difference: all believers are priests. We believe in the priesthood of all believers, based on this verse and others: “You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 2:5 (NKJV)

“We all” includes you. I might paraphrase it this way (insert your name where I have placed mine), “But Johnny, you can behold the glory of the Lord and be transformed by what you see.”

Moses begged for what we take for granted, “Please, show me Your glory.” Exodus 33:18 (NKJV) Moses begged for access to God. We all have access:

  • Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2 (NKJV)
  • For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Ephesians 2:18 (NKJV)
  • In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. Ephesians 3:12 (NKJV)

We have access. We all have access. You have access.

Everyone who was blind and now can see has access. Everyone who was lost and has now been found has access. Everyone who was far from God and now has been brought near has access. Everyone who was guilty before God and now has been forgiven has access.
