It helped them know that they could enter his house boldly (Ps. 5:7) and that they could rejoice in salvation and sing because he had “dealt bountifully” with them (Ps. 13:5–6). When David was crushed by the memory of his sins, he prayed, “Remember your mercy, O LORD, and your steadfast love, for they have been from of old.
