Encourage your people to memorize Scripture

Consistently encourage your folks to memorize Scripture. Nothing will drive steel into the soul of your people like Scripture memory. Scripture memory will keep you from sin. “I have hidden your Word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Quoting Scripture is how Jesus defeated sin. If Jesus needed memorized scripture to defeat the Devil in the wilderness, what chance do you have without memorized Scripture.

Of course, if you really want to encourage your people to memorize scripture, you can’t just tell them. You must lead the way. You must say with Paul, “Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ.”
