  1. Matthew 28.19 - 20. (1) Three months ago we did a series of lessons based on how we can do evangelism as a team. I would like for us to do a review and follow up on those lessons today. What did Jesus tell us to do, just before he left?
  2. Romans 1.14. (2) How did Paul feel about evangelism?
  3. Is it true of us? Do we have a debt, a duty, an obligation to spread the message about Jesus?
  4. Romans 12.13. (3) Why is it important that Christians share meals together?
  5. Luke 14.12. (4) When you have a luncheon or dinner, who are we to invite?
  6. Romans 12.6 - 8. (5) Of the spiritual gifts listed in this passage, which one(s) would you say you just might have?
  7. We summarized and applied these teachings three months ago this way. We have an obligation to share the gospel and make disciples. One way to do that is through the ministry of hospitality-inviting every member and every prospect to every fellowship every month. To do that, we need everyone involved using their gifts-some to call prospects, some to call members, some to plan the party, some to administrate the whole plan. We set a plan of having three parties in three months and inviting every member and every prospect to the parties. We set this day aside to evaluate the plan. Let's evaluate.
  8. What went well?
  9. What did not go well?
  10. What did we learn?
  11. What do we want to do about what we learned?
  12. Did we have three fellowships? Did we get every member invited? Did we get every prospect invited?
  13. If not, we want to talk about why. Not to do any blaming or finger pointing, or guilt producing, but why didn't we get this done? What can we do different? What do we want to do in the future? How can we fix it?
  14. What kind of response did we get? Did anyone come to the parties? Has anyone come to class?
  15. How did you enjoy your participation in the process? Was it a fit for you? What do you think you might like to try next time?
  16. If you participated in making phone calls, what did you learn about making those calls that might help you (or someone else) do to it better next time?
  17. Is attendance up this month as opposed to three months ago? (6)
  18. Did you enjoy the parties? Did anyone have fun?
  19. Did we get to know one another better? Did we strengthen our own fellowship?
  20. What do we want to plan for the next three months?
  21. Who wants to do what?
  22. What date do we want to set on the calendar to evaluate this again?
  23. Can we accomplish this-doubling our class-on our own? (7)
  24. Philippians 4.13. (8) Is Christ willing to help us?
  25. How can we pray for one another this week?
Good questions are available on hundreds of topics and texts. For details, see www.joshhunt.com/vault.htm  and www.joshhunt.com/sunday-school.htm

1. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)

2. I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. Romans 1:14 (NIV)

3. When God's children are in need, you be the one to help them out. And get into the habit of inviting guests home for dinner or, if they need lodging, for the night. Romans 12:13 (TLB)

4. Then he turned to his host. "When you put on a dinner," he said, "don't invite friends, brothers, relatives, and rich neighbors! For they will return the invitation. Luke 14:12 (TLB)

5. God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, then prophesy whenever you can--as often as your faith is strong enough to receive a message from God. 12:7 If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching. 12:8 If you are a preacher, see to it that your sermons are strong and helpful. If God has given you money, be generous in helping others with it. If God has given you administrative ability and put you in charge of the work of others, take the responsibility seriously. Those who offer comfort to the sorrowing should do so with Christian cheer. Romans 12:6-8 (TLB)

6. You might pay attention to seasonal issues. On average, Sunday School attendance is down by about 15% in the summer. So, if you are comparing a summer month to a non-summer month and you are even, that is in fact growth. Also, you might point out that you only have to grow from 10 to 14 in nine months to double in 18 months and for a group of 10 to reach 1000 people in 10 years.

7. Yes, I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him shall produce a large crop of fruit. For apart from me you can't do a thing. John 15:5 (TLB)

8. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
