A group of ten that doubles every 18 months will reach 1000 people for God in 10 years. That is an indisputable fact of math.

Yet, doubling a class in two years or less is possible. It translates into 40% annual growth. It means an average-sized group growing from 10 to 14 in a year. That is 40% growth. 40% growth the next year is 14 to 20. We can do this. Relying on God who is our Strength, we can do this. You can double your class in two years or less by following 5 steps, spelling out the word T.I.G.E.R.

Teach…

a half way decent lesson each and every week, nothing less will do. You don’t have to be Chuck Swindoll or Beth Moore. It does have to be half-way decent. I write Good Questions Have Groups Talking that include great stories and quotes from people like Chuck Swindoll, Beth Moore and Max Lucado to insure the teaching is half-way decent. If you can read 20 questions, you can teach a group.

Invite…

every member and every prospect to every fellowship every month. I teach an intentional, relational, party-driven approach. Using the ministry of intentional hospitality we can double a class.

Give…

Friday nights to Jesus. “Friday nights” is a metaphor. It is a metaphor of an informal time of Diet Coke, table games, fellowship, food
and fun. If we will be their friend their heart will warm up to a message about what a Friend we have in Jesus. Community must precede content. It is not enough to tell them about a God who loves them; we must love them. We must love them inĀ common, ordinary, pedestrian ways.

Encourage…

the group toward ministry. Hospitality is hard work. Get everyone involved. The more people are involved, the more likely the growth.

Reproduce…

your group. The goal is not so much to go from 10 to 20 as it is to go from 1 group to 2. The future of the church is the
multiplication of groups. The key to growing a church is not to grow the size of each group; it is to grow the number of groups.

I give my life to helping groups double. Here are some ways I can help.
